Straight Lines or Circles? Digital Sustainability

There are two prevalent discourses in education at the moment, one about sustainability and climate change, and the other about digitisation and AI. They are deeply entwined but only occasionally discussed together.

I have been reading Sand Talk by Tyson Yunkaporta (He writes from his Aboriginal perspective, sharing a series of yarns which explore how indigenous thinking can save the world – definitely a recommended read). Learning Theory for the Digital Age

Situated practice refers to where learning takes place. Learning takes place at a given point in history and in a certain geographical, social and cultural space. It is situated. It is not an objective process, separate to the environment in which it is happening. And we do not start from scratch, we carry on from where previous generations left off.
